The Master Needs Them

As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to Bethpage at the Mount of Olives. There Jesus sent two of the disciples on ahead with these instructions: "Go to the village there ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied up with her colt beside her. Untie them and bring them to me. And if anyone says anything, tell him, ‘The Master needs them’; and then he will let them go at once."

Matthew 21:1-3

Throughout His life on earth, Jesus was a man of striking contrasts – reflecting both His genuine humanity and His full deity. He is the Bread of Life but began His ministry hungering. He is the Water of Life but ended His life thirsting. He hungered as a man, but feeds the hungry as God. He was weary, but He is our rest. He paid tribute, but He is the King. He was called a devil, yet He cast out demons. He prayed, yet He hears prayer. He wept, and He dries our tears. He was sold for 30 pieces of silver, yet He redeems sinners. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, yet He is the Good Shepherd. He gave His life, and by dying He destroyed death.

The lowly carpenter of Nazareth

was the mighty architect of the universe.
