Teach Us How Short Our Life Is

Our life is cut short by your anger; it fades away like a whisper. Seventy years is all we have – eighty years, if we are strong; yet all they bring us is trouble and sorrow; life is soon over, and we are gone.

Who has felt the full power of your anger? Who knows what fear your fury can bring? Teach us how short our life is, so that we may become wise.

Psalm 90:9-12

Life is short and very uncertain. We cannot know what the future will bring. We can only ask God to turn us away from trivial pursuits and direct our hearts to follow Him. So we pray as Moses did, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

Our attitude towards death determines how we live.
