Sure Footed As A Deer

Even though the fig trees have no fruit

and no grapes grow on the vines,

even though the olive crop fails

and the fields produce no grain,

even though the sheep all die

and the cattle stalls are empty,

I will still be joyful and glad,

Because the LORD God is my

Savior.

The Sovereign LORD gives me

Strength.

He makes me sure-footed as a deer

And keeps me safe on the

Mountains.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

Our best smiles come from within. It reflects a joy that remains even when a person has few of life’s material blessings. It comes from knowing God, believing and obeying his Word, being assured of sins forgiven, possessing eternal life, and anticipating the glories of heaven. The believer who depends on God for these blessings can smile despite adversity.

Happiness depends on happenings,

but joy depends on Jesus.
