Helpless Like Sheep

What if the spirit of the LORD carries you off to some unknown place as soon as I leave? Then, when I tell Ahab that you are here and he can't find you, he will put me to death. Remember that I have been a devout worshipper of the LORD ever since I was a boy. Haven't you heard that when Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD I hid a hundred of them in caves, in two groups of fifty, and supplied them with food and water? So how can you order me to go and tell the king that you are here? He will kill me!"

1 Kings 18:12-14

God is more interested in our motives than He is with our methods. We should pray that we be given wisdom to know how to best serve our God. Our service should always be motivated by our great love and respect, not our duty.

As he saw the crowds, his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were worried and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. So he said to his disciples, "The harvest is large, but there are few workers to gather it in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest."

Matthew 9: 36-38

Are we really concerned enough about our fellow man to pray? We can all be faithful stewards and contribute to the ongoing work of the gospel. And what about witnessing? We can speak about our faith to a friend. We can write a letter, hand out a tract, or maybe send a book to some non-Christian acquaintance.
