God’s Love – Better Than Anything

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. This is what love is; it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.

1 John 4:7-10

Think back to the first day when you brought your first dog home. The dog barked at you, and you probably barked back at the dog. But dogs give our love for them back to us, just as God gives us direct love. Think about walking in the front door and having your dog meet you there. Think of the twenty toenails scratching into the carpet or the tile, wagging the tail, licking your face, doing the dance, howling, telling you how their day went, telling you how they missed you.

Unconditional love. Your pet is happy to see you, just as your Father in heaven is happy to see you each day. Dogs may have short lives, but they give us their most. But our love for God and His love for us is never ending. He gives us His most and we should give Him our most. He does not have a short life, but we do.
