The Good News Of
Peace Through Jesus Christ
Then Peter began to speak: “I now
realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism
but accepts from every nation the one
who fears him and does what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel,
announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
You know what has happened throughout
the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John
preached— how God anointed
Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing
good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was
with him.
Acts
10:34-38
Peoples’ witness is profound. It
shows how much we can endure at the hands of some people in society who deny the
truth that every human being, regardless of race or heritage, is loved by God.
Some members of the early church struggled with this same truth, believing that
certain people were, by birth, loved by God while others were rejected. After
receiving a divine vision, however, Peter stunned everyone who would listen
with this astounding revelation: “I now realize how true it is that God does
not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and
does what is right.”
God opens His arms wide to extend loved
to everyone. May we do the same in His power.
We’re
tempted to push others away, but God’s arms are open wide.
