My Help Comes From The Lord
I lift up
my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help
comes from the Lord, the Maker of
heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—he
who watches over you will not slumber; indeed,
he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—the Lord
is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by
day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your
life; the Lord
will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm
121:1-8
We will all face an unexpected
obstacle in our lives. If we fixate on the target, unfortunately we will aim
right at it, and hit it. But if we look above and past the target, we can
usually avoid it. Where we look is generally where we go.
This also applies to our spiritual
lives as well. When we “target fixate” – focusing on our problems and struggles - we almost
automatically orient our lives around them.
However, Scripture urges us to look past
our problems to the One who can help us with them. The Scriptures say, “My help
comes from the Lord.”
Sometimes our obstacles can seem
insurmountable. But God invites us to look to Him to help us see beyond our
troubles instead of letting them dominate our perspective.
Our
help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
