“Whoever Loses Their Life For Me
Will Save It”
Jesus strictly warned them not to
tell this to anyone. And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and
be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and
he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
Then he said
to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up
their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose
it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.
Luke 9:21-24
If we are to
follow Jesus, we must deny ourselves everything else. We must take up our
individual crosses and follow Jesus, each day of our lives.
His path was
one of self-denial and suffering, which can be hard to follow. But to be His
effective disciples, we too are invited to put aside our selfish desires and
pick up spiritual burdens daily – to serve others first instead of ourselves.
Our walk
with God will be humbling. We need to follow His every step, and
stay close to Him. We can appear with Christ as one.
Our lives are a window through which
others can see Jesus.
