The
Rock Eternal
In that day this song will be sung in the land of
Judah: We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts.
Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the
nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are
steadfast, because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord
himself, is the Rock eternal.
Isaiah
26:1-4
Rushing around frantically seems to be opposite of the
“perfect peace” the prophet Isaiah of. The Lord gives this gift to “those whose
minds are steadfast,” because they trust in Him. And He is worthy of being trusted
today, tomorrow, and forever, for “the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
Trusting God with our minds fixed on Him is the antidote to a hurried life.
Wherever we may be today, pray that we’ll be able to
put aside any hurry as we trust in the Lord, who will never fail us and who gives
us His peace.
God’s
peace helps us not to hurry.
