The Lord
Hears Them
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears
are attentive to their cry; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to
blot out their name from the earth.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from
all their troubles. The Lord is
close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:15-18
The
passage of time may dull the ache of a lost loved one, but nothing takes the
pain away completely.
Time
cannot heal that wound. There is something that can help: listening to,
meditating on, and savoring the solace promised by the God of all comfort.
Listen: “Because
of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassion never fail.”
Meditate: “In
the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling.”
Savor: “My
comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.”
Life
can never be the same again when someone we love is gone. But God’s promises
bring hope and comfort.
God’s Word is the true source of comfort.
