“Show
Me, Lord, My Life’s End”
“Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my
days; let me know how fleeting my life is.
You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of
my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who
seem secure.
“Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in
vain they rush about, heaping up wealth
without knowing whose it will finally be.
Psalm
39:4-6
For most of us, a second gained or lost doesn’t make
much difference. Yet according to Scripture, our time and how we use it is
important. Paul reminded us, “time is short.” The time we have
to do God’s work is limited, so we must use it wisely. He urged us to “(make)
the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
This doesn’t mean we have to count each second, but
when we consider the fleeting nature of life, we can be reminded of the
importance of using our time wisely.
Don’t
just spend time – invest it.
