In
His Word I Put My Hope
Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my
voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could
stand?
But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can,
with reverence, serve you.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the
morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm
130:1-6
I often wait. I wait for answers to prayers or
guidance from the Lord. Although I don’t know the exact time my wait will end,
I’m learning to wait expectantly.
The anticipation of God’s faithfulness breaking
through the darkness gives the psalmist hope to endure even in
the midst of his suffering. Based on the promises of God found
throughout Scripture, that hope allows him to keep waiting even though he has
not yet seen the first rays of light.
Be encouraged if you are in the middle of a dark
night. The dawn is coming – either in this life or in heaven! In the meantime,
don’t give p hope but keep watching for the deliverance of the Lord. He will be
faithful.
God
can be trusted in the light and in the dark.
