He Was Put To Death In The Body But Made Alive In The Spirit

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

1 Peter 3:13-18

When our worst Christian fear becomes reality, we have two choices: recant our faith in Christ and be killed, or proclaim Jesus as the Christ.  We will find if we proclaim our faith in Jesus, our fear will fall away and we will become bold even in the face of death.

The Bible reminds us that sometimes we will suffer for doing what is right – whether for sharing the gospel or for living godly lives that are against today’s values. We are told not to be frightened, but to “revere Christ as Lord” in our hearts. Often that is where the battles are fought, in our hearts.

When we finally make up our minds to choose Jesus, we find the courage to be faithful.

When we make the decision to honor Christ, He will help us to be bold and to overcome our fears in the midst of opposition.

Let us be bold as we witness for God.
