The
Lord Is My Light And My Salvation
The
Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold
of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
When
the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who
will stumble and fall.
Though
an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even
then I will be confident.
One
thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house
of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to
seek him in his temple.
Psalm 27:1-4
We
all love looking at the Grand Canyon. Whenever we stand at the rim, we can see
the brushstrokes of God’s handiwork that will take our breath away.
David
expressed a longing when he wrote, “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do
I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to
gaze on the beauty of the Lord.” There is nothing more beautiful than the
presence of God, which draws near to us on this earth as we seek Him by faith,
looking forward to seeing Him face to face.
On
that day we’ll never tire of praising our amazing Lord, because we will never
come to an end of fresh new discoveries of His exquisite goodness and the
wonders of the works of His hands. Every moment in His presence will bring a
breathtaking revelation of His beauty and His love.
We were created to enjoy God forever.
