“Come
To Me, All You Who Are Weary”
At
that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to
little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
“All
things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the
Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son
chooses to reveal him.
“Come
to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:25-30
If
you have found Christianity exhausting you, then you are practicing religion
rather than enjoying a relationship with Jesus Christ. Your walk with the Lord
will not make you weary; it will invigorate you, restore your strength, and energize
your life.
When
we think that serving God is all up to us, individually, we begin working for Him instead of walking with Him. There is a vital difference.
If we are not walking with Christ, our spirit becomes dry and brittle. People
are annoyances, not fellow humans created in God’s image. Nothing seems right.
When
we sense that we are practicing religion instead of enjoying a relationship
with Jesus, it’s time to lay the burden down and walk with Him in His “unforced
rhythms of grace.”
Jesus wants us to walk with Him.
