“The
Lord Has Anointed Me
To Preach Good Tidings”
“The Spirit of the Lord
God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the
poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the
acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort
all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the
Lord, that He may be glorified.”
And they shall rebuild
the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall
repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.
Isaiah
61:1-4
When our full-time jobs
are cut, it is a devastating experience. The same is true when our part-time
jobs are cut. We feel like we still have so much to accomplish. Know that God’s
faithfulness will turn your mourning into joy.
The Lord gives us hope
when we feel hopeless; He helps us to forgive when we think we can’t; He
teaches us that our identity is in Him and not in what we do. He gives us
courage to face an unknown future. When we wear the rags of “ashes,” He gently
gives us a coat of praise.
When we face loss, we
shouldn’t run from the sadness, but neither do we want to become bitter or
hardened. When we think about God’s faithfulness over the years, we know that
He’s willing and able to turn our grief to dancing once again – to give us
sufficient grace in this life and full joy in heaven.
God
can bring times of growth out of our times of heartache.
