Enter
His Gates With Thanksgiving
Shout
for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship
the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
Know
that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people,
the sheep of his pasture.
Enter
his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and
praise his name.
For
the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues
through all generations.
Psalm 100:1-5
Gates
all represent the difference between being outside or inside certain areas of a
city. Some are open; some are closed to all but a few.
The
gates into the presence of God are always open. This Psalm is an invitation for
the Israelites to enter into the presence God through the temple gates. They
were told to “shout for joy” and “come before him with joyful songs.”
The gates into God’s presence are still open, inviting
us to come and worship.
