“The Works Of God”

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

John 9:1-7

Everything in the universe is in motion, and all knowledge is a matter of perspective. The speed of light is the only constant by which we can measure space, time, or physical mass.

Long before Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, Jesus talked about the role of light in understanding our world but from a different perspective. To support His claim to be the Light of the World, Jesus healed a man who had been blind from birth.

While Einstein’s ideas would later be proven difficult to test, Jesus claims can be tested. We can spend time with Jesus in the Gospels. We can invite Him into our daily routine. We can see for ourselves that He can change our perspective on everything.

Only as we walk in Christ’s light can we live in His love.
