Do Not Think About How To Gratify The Desires Of The Flesh

Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Romans 13:10-14

Have you ever climbed a mountain, or walked to the base of a skyscraper in a large city? They don’t look that far away, until you start to walk the distance. Then you know it will take awhile. In fact our lives are like that. Just keep walking, you will get there. The thought of that will keep you going.

Paul assures us, “Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” Every day brings us closer to that great day when we will reach the summit, and we see our Savior’s face. That’s the thought that can keep us going.

Now we see Jesus in the Bible, but someday we will see Him face to face.
