He Came Only As A Witness To The Light

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

John 1:1-9

In a spiritual sense, mountains of trouble keep us from seeing Jesus Christ. The light of Jesus does not always get through into our lives. But God strategically places His children to act as reflections. One such person was John the Baptist. He bore witness to Jesus Christ, the light of the world. He speaks directly to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death.

Just as sunlight is essential for emotional and physical health, so exposure to the light of Jesus is essential for spiritual health. Thankfully, every believer is in a position to reflect His light into the world’s dark places.

A world in darkness needs the light of Jesus.
