They
Devoted Themselves
To The Apostles’ Teaching
Those who accepted his
message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that
day.
They devoted themselves
to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to
prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by
the apostles. All the believers were
together and had everything in common. They
sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in
the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad
and sincere hearts, praising
God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their
number daily those who were being saved.
Acts
2: 41-47
Do we have fences in
our yards? Do we have fences around us? What are the fences there for? Are we
isolating ourselves from our neighbors?
Our churches should
have community groups that meet regularly to build relationships and to
encourage one another in our journey with God. The early church gathered
together daily in the temple. They became one in purpose and heart as they
fellowshipped and prayed. If they struggled, they would have companions to lift
them up.
Connection to a
community of believers is vital in our Christian walk. One way that God chooses
to show His love to us is through relationships.
We
all need Christians fellowship to build us up and hold
us up.
