The
Lord Is The Everlasting God
Why
do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the
Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?
Do
you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator
of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his
understanding no one can fathom.
He
gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even
youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope
in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they
will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:27-31
So
do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
In
late October 2012, a hurricane spawned super storm struck the heavily populated
northeastern United States, leaving massive flooding and destruction in its
wake. During the storm more than eight million people lost power. Tunnels for
cars and trains in New York City were flooded. Outages caused long lines at gas
stations. Homes and businesses were without power, for an extended period of
time. The howling waters left many neighborhoods crushed, flooded and choked
with mountains of sand.
Like
a storm of nature, a personal tragedy can often leave us feeling powerless and
in the dark. During such times, God’s Word assures us of His help: “He gives
power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”
At
our lowest point, drained of emotional resources, we can place our hope in the
Lord and find our strength in Him.
God
is our spiritual power source in every storm of life.
It takes a storm to prove the real shelter.

Daily Bread – Isaiah 40:27-31; 41:10
