Praise
God In His Sanctuary
Praise
the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise
him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise
him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise
him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the
strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with
resounding cymbals.
Let
everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
Psalm 150:1-6
Psalm
150 is not only a beautiful “expression” of praise, it’s also a lesson in
praising the Lord. It tells us where to praise, why we are to praise, how we’re
to praise, and who should offer praise.
Where
to praise? In God’s “sanctuary” and “mighty firmament.” Why do we praise?
Because of what God does in our lives. He performs “mighty acts.” And we praise
because of who God is. How are we to give praise? Loudly. Softly. Soothingly.
Enthusiastically. Boldy, and Unexpectedly.
Fearlessly. Who should offer praise? “Everything that has breath.”
Praise
is our enthusiastic expression of gratitude to God for reigning in glory
forever.
Praise is the overflow of a joyful heart.
