Knowledge,
Self-Control
For this very reason,
make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and
to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to
perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection,
love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing
measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is
nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past
sins.
Therefore, my brothers
and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you
do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome
into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2
Peter 1:5-11
When did you decide to
follow Christ? I was thirteen. Do you remember the exact time? I do.
How does a new believer
feed his faith and continue to grow? Read the Scriptures regularly to increase
your understanding of God. Make prayer a daily part of your life. Bible reading
and prayer help us grow closer to God and withstand temptation.
The Holy Spirit will
begin to develop the “fruit of the Spirit” in you. You need to surrender your
life in faith and obedience. We display God’s love through our witness and
service.
Our spiritual journeys
continue. It is a privilege to have a relationship in which we grow because of
the grace of the Lord in our lives. We grow because of the knowledge of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Salvation
is the miracle of a moment; growth is the labor of a lifetime.
