Approach
God’s Throne Of Grace
With
Confidence
Therefore, since we have
a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us
hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted
in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s
throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to
help us in our time of need.
Hebrews
4:14-16
We all have addictions.
Our friends and family encourage us to stop, whatever it is. We feel helpless.
When others tell us how they quit their bad habits. We sometimes ask God to
take the desire away from us right now. It doesn’t always happen that way.
Immediate deliverance may
happen for some, but most face a daily battle. We learn to turn to God on
whatever path we find ourselves. And perhaps that is the most important part of
our struggle. We learn to exchange our futile efforts to change for complete
dependence on God.
Jesus was tempted also,
just as we are, so He understands what we’re feeling.
Whatever battles we may
be facing today, we know this – God loves us so much more than we can imagine,
and He is faithful to come to our assistance.
We
are not tempted because we are evil;
we
are tempted because we are human.
