You
Have Preserved My Life
Your word, Lord, is
eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all
generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things
serve you. If your law had not been my
delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your
precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.
Psalm
119:89-93
Our fathers have taught
us to work and push through adversity. Knowing that Jesus Christ helps us push on
can be a tremendous help to us.
The psalmist seemed to
climb out his own cave of affliction and pain. He admitted that if God and His
Word had not sustained him with joy, he would have died in misery. He expressed
full confidence in the Lord’s eternal Word and in the faithfulness of His
character. As a result of God’s faithfulness, the psalmist made a commitment
never to forget God’s words to him because they had a central part in rescuing
his life and bringing him strength.
In our darkest caves
and moments of affliction, our souls can be revived by our Father in heaven
when we recall and fill our minds with His encouraging words.
Remembering
God’s words revives our soul.
