The
Perfecter Of Faith
Therefore, since we are
surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that
hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance
the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured
the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will
not grow weary and lose heart.
In your struggle
against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
Hebrews
12:1-4
Running with endurance
requires that we lay aside the sin that stands in our way and shed the weights
that hold us back. We may even have to press on through persecution.
To prevent weariness
and discouragement in our souls, the Bible urges us to focus on Christ. When we
pay more attention to Him than to our struggles, we will notice Him running
alongside us – supporting us when we stumble and encouraging us with His
example. Keeping our eyes on “the perfecter of faith”
will help us stay close to the source of our strength and remain faithful to
the finish.
We
can finish strong when we focus on Christ.
