The
Lord Will Watch Over
Your Coming And Going
I
lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes
from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He
will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed,
he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The
Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will
not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The
Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will
watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalm 121:1-8
We
know life is not a straight line. There are cut-offs,
short-cuts, and the long way around. Life does not take us from one blessing to
the next, and finally to heaven. Life is a winding a troubled road. God is not
just showing up after the trouble and cleaning it up.
The
Jews journeying to Jerusalem for the annual feasts had the assurance of knowing
that the Lord was plotting their course and managing the winding and troubled
roads for them.
The
Lord is fully alert and secured the journey of His people with providential
care. The Lord, who rescued Israel, continues to help. He provides providential
care.
Life
is a winding road with unknown perils and troubles, but we can be certain of
God’s providence, security, and care.
Troubles are unknown; God’s providence is certain.
