Our
Time Of Need
Let
us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish
by following their example of disobedience.
For
the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it
penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the
thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from
God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Therefore,
since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son
of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high
priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has
been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then
approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:11-16
Wouldn’t
it be nice if life was just one recipe after another, and all we had to do was
follow them?
Life
is not so simple. We can’t just follow a few easy steps. We live in a fallen
world. Things do not always go the way we expect or want them to. In the midst
of life’s pain, we need the personal care of the Savior who lived in this world
and experienced the same struggles we face.
Jesus
knows there is no simple “recipe” to prevent the heartaches of life, so He
entered into them with us. Will we trust Him with our tears and grief?
The Christ who died to give
us life, will carry us through its heartaches.
