“Foundation
On The Rock”
“Therefore everyone who
hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who
built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the
winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its
foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not
put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The
rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that
house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew
7:24-27
For through him we both
have access to the Father by one Spirit.
Consequently, you are
no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and
also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole
building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And
in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives
by his Spirit.
Ephesians
2:18-22
Anyone who lives in
Massachusetts knows about Plymouth Rock. And most know the effects of erosion
on that rock. It is much smaller than it used to be.
Jesus is the rock. He
is the foundation of our beliefs. He is the Son of God. He died. He was
resurrected. His power is what removes the sins we all have, by faith alone. He
is a solid Rock, a foundation.
We can cling to Jesus
with storms that come into our lives. He is the precious cornerstone, and those
who trust in Him will always have a solid Rock to depend on.
Christ,
the Rock, is our sure hope.
