Do
Not Forget My Teaching
My son,
do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they
will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.
Let love and
faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the
tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of
God and man.
Trust in the Lord with
all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he
will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your
own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs
3:1-8
We take our GPS devices
for granted. We get lost, it says, “rerouting, rerouting.”
Sometimes followers of
Jesus need help in getting back on track to Jesus. We may intentionally veer
off course because we think we know best. We may drift away slowly, failing to
notice we are moving further away from the walk God wants us to take.
God has not left us on
our own. He has given all believers the Holy Spirit who convicts us of our sin.
When we are going off course, rely on the Spirit.
What comfort to know
that God is at work in our lives through the convicting work of the Holy Spirit. With God’s help and guidance, we can continue on a
path that is pleasing to Him.
We’re
never without a helper, because we have the Spirit within us.
