God’s Power

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Paul realized that God’s word could not be preached. Paul realized he needed to get Jesus Christ into the heads of the people he was talking to. They needed to see Jesus. They needed to get their hands around what he was telling them.

Paul wrote the believers in Corinth. He told them his speech and writing were not made with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of God’s power. He wanted them to know that their faith should not be based on the wisdom of men, but of the power of God.

As you live each day, ask God to help you accompany your words with actions. When we allow God to show Himself through us, it is a powerful demonstration of His grace and love.

Our words need actions behind them.
