You
Sluggard
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
How long
will you lie there, you sluggard? When
will you get up from your sleep? A
little sleep, a little slumber, a
little folding of the hands to rest— and
poverty will come on you like a thief and
scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 6:6-11
None of us like to be called sluggards or slackers. Think
about all the people you put in that category, and then add your own name.
Like the men and women who fail to teach discipline to
their children, or a spouse who doesn’t help around the house, or teenagers who
take up space until they grow up, we all can be called slackers at some point
in our lives.
If we are honest we all could be called sluggards.
If we are not doing what we know God wants us to do, we
are certainly spiritual slackers. In fact, when we refuse to obey God, we are sinning.
We may make excuses
for not obeying God,
but He still calls it
disobedience.
