Wordless Groans

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Romans 8:26-30

Never question God’s motives. There are things going on we will never understand. Just know that when people die around us, whether our mothers and fathers, our wife, or our children and grand children, it is God’s will. Nothing ever just happens.

God’s loving sovereignty allows things to happen and for His presence to be made known to us. We don’t even have to ask. Those needs can come, even in the form of wordless groans.

Our greatest comfort in sorrow is to know that God is in control.
