“It Is My Word That Goes Out”

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:8-11

There has been a lot of discussion about whether there really is anything to the concept of “six degrees of  separation.” What we do know is simple. It is the wisdom and providence of God working through His Word to accomplish His will that we should be aware of.

It may be that a simple word offered in love, guided by the wisdom of God and borne aloft of the wings of the Spirit will have eternal consequences in someone’s life.

Should we not then fill ourselves with God’s Word and pass it on to others with the prayer that God will use if for His intended purposes?

As the blossom can’t tell what becomes of the fragrance,

we can’t tell what becomes of our influence.
