“Surely I Am With You Always”

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Matthew 22:34-39

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20

When you bake a cake, you make sure everything is just right. Oven is heated, pan has been buttered, and the mix is in the right consistency.

When Jesus told His followers to go and make disciples of all nations, He did not give them permission to be rude and uncaring as they did so.

In our eagerness to share Christ with others, we must always include a healthy balance of those two ingredients – the true gospel and godly love. This wonderfully sweet cake bakes the best in the warmth of God’s love.

They witness best who witness with their lives.
