My True Companion

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:2-7

How long does it take to tear down a building. The twin towers came down in half and hour or less.

Relationships are the same way. What might take years, can be all gone in an instant with us saying something stupid.

We hear of Euodia and Syntyche. We learn that they quarreled and if it had gone further, they could have torn down the witness of the Philippian church. Paul stepped in, with a true companion, to rebuild the relationship.

Sometimes our “true companion” does have to step in and rebuild what we tear up.

May we seek to build each other up through our words and actions today!

Two Christians are better than one – when they’re one.
