Born Of God

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:9-14

We are all God’s children, no matter our age or mental capacities. Some of us have had parents at the end of life’s journey who develop dementia. And yet that does not mean we stop loving them. We try to do what we can to help with their memories. We look for ways to accommodate their diminished capacities.

God has the same kind of grace in our daily lives. We do not understand His greatness. We never will. The reality is that Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. Jesus is with us today through the Holy Spirit.

We truly are God’s children. Do you know anyone who might benefit from Jesus’ helpful, accommodating love that could flow through you to them today?

To be a channel of blessing, let Christ’s love flow through you.
