A
Light On My Path
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on
my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your
righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your
word. Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though
I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. The wicked
have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. Your statutes
are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on
keeping your decrees to the very end.
Psalm 119:105-112
We always feel we can get through
something, if the Lord will tell us the outcome, before it comes. Life doesn’t generally
work that way.
God usually doesn’t show us where He is
taking us. He just asks us to trust Him. It’s like driving a car at night. Our
headlights never shine more than a couple of hundred feet ahead of us, at the
very best. And yet we trust those headlights, just as we trust in our Lord. We
still move forward both with our vehicles, and with our Lord. All we really
need is enough light to keep moving forward.
God’s word is like headlights in dark
times. It is full of promises we need to keep us from driving our lives into
the ditch of bitterness and despair. His Word promises He will never leave us
nor forsake us. His Word assures us that He knows the plans He has for us,
plans for wholeness and not for evil.
So the next time you feel as if you’re
driving in the dark, remember to trust your headlights – God’s Word will light
your way.
You won’t stumble
in the dark if you walk in the light of God’s Word.
