“I Have Come Into The World

 As A Light”

Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: “Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.”

Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.

Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.

Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

John 12:35-46

There have been two lunar eclipses that we are aware of. One was on December 21, 2010 and the other dates back to 1638. The shadow of the earth slips across the full moon and makes it appear dark red. It is a remarkable and beautiful event.

The great invitation of Christmas is to open our hearts to the Savior who came to end our darkness. Jesus told us that we have the light, because of our belief in Him. He told us when we have the light, we become sons of the light. Jesus also told us He is the light of the world, and that whoever believes in Him will not live in darkness.

The way out of our spiritual night is to walk in the light with Him.

When we walk in the Light, we won’t stumble in the darkness.
