“Treasures”

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

Everything we own becomes a part of someone else’s collection of junk when we die. You can’t take it with you.

We are told to lay up our treasures. What does that really mean? What good things have you done for others while you have been on earth? Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior and have you told others about Him? That is really the best good thing you could do. We don’t get into heaven because of things we have done. We do get into heaven because we accept Jesus as our Savior. It is His grace, not anything we have done. We witness to others what He has done in our lives.

It is easy to become enamored with earthy stuff, but when you make the choice to follow Jesus, He will show you the joy of collecting eternal treasures. Nothing on earth can compare.

Hold tightly to what is eternal and loosely to what is temporal.
