The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd. He gives me everything I need.

He lets me lie down in fields of green grass. He leads me beside quiet waters.

He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths for the honor of his name.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid. You are with me. Your shepherd's rod and staff comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me right in front of my enemies. You pour oil on my head. My cup runs over.

I am sure that your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life. And I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23: 1-6

When do you find quiet time for God? We are a connected people. We have phones, email, cell phones, and it is sometimes hard to get away from it all.

What we need is quiet time, just for ourselves and God. Count your blessings, say thank you, and ask for help and courage for another day on this earth. Your life, no matter your circumstances, is what you make of it. Some people may be physically imprisoned, others mentally imprisoned. Accept Jesus and those shackles go away.

Start with a prayer for guidance, then read the Bible, and close with a short prayer that includes adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. It is vital to take time today to connect with the Lord, who is our life.

Time spent with God is time well spent.
