Our God, We Give You Thanks.

David praised the Lord in front of the whole community. He said, "Lord, we give you praise. You are the God of our father Israel. We give you praise for ever and ever.

Lord, you are great and powerful. Glory, majesty and beauty belong to you. Everything in heaven and on earth belongs to you. Lord, the kingdom belongs to you. You are honored as the One who rules over all.

Wealth and honor come from you. You are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power. You can give honor and strength to everyone.

Our God, we give you thanks. We praise your glorious name.

1 Chronicles 29:10-13

Interesting things happen when the economy gets bad. The time might be used to expose hidden sin and to bring us to repentance and cleansing. We might find that it is a wakeup call to show us the constant and desperate condition of the developing world. Recessions also help relocate the roots of our joy in His grace rather than in our good, in His mercy rather than in our money, in His worth rather than in our wealth. Recession brings us closer to our Lord and that helps advance His saving mission in the world – the spread of the gospel and the growth of His church – precisely at a time when human resources are least able to support it. A recession can also be used to bring His church to care for its hurting members and to grow in the gift of love.

When all you have is God,

you have all you need.
