Foundation On Rock

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Matthew 7:24-29

It is easy for us to think we don’t need instructions in our lives. Not so. We will soon realize that we have messed things up. The instructions Jesus gave resound today. They are instructions to the wise so that they can build a safe, solid, and significant life.

Turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, forgive enemies, and sell treasures so they can be used by the poor.

To the world, forgiving your enemies and giving to the poor may seem like an unimportant way to build a life, but, take it from Jesus, it’s the wise way.

To build a rock solid life, follow Jesus’ instructions.
