Comfort Abounds Through Christ

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.  And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians1:3-7

A medical program requires students who are training for geriatric medicine to experience life in a nursing home for 10 days. They learn some of the struggles of maneuvering a wheelchair and being raised out of bed with a lift, as well as reaching the shower from a seated position. Although the students can’t fully relate they begin to get an idea of what the residents of nursing homes deal with daily.

Sometimes God gives us the opportunity to use the lessons we have learned and the comfort He has given us during difficult times to help others in special ways.

God comforts us in our tribulation, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble.

Are you using the lessons you have learned in your own trials to touch the lives of others? Remember – even the little things mean a lot.

God doesn’t comfort us to make us comfortable;

He comforts us to make us comforters.
