Your Body Is A Temple Of The
Holy Spirit Within You
“All things are lawful for
me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I
will not be dominated by anything. “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach
for food,” and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is meant not
for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the
Lord and will also raise us by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are
members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them
members of a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that whoever is united to a
prostitute becomes one body with her? For it is said, “The two shall be one
flesh.” But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Shun
fornication! Every sin that a person commits is outside the body; but the
fornicator sins against the body itself. Or do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are
not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your
body.

Corinthians 6:12-20
Have you thought about
clearing the clutter from your life? Sometimes a garage serves as “storage” for
things that probably aren’t used, but simply take up space. When you open the
door, you might even be ashamed of how much space is being taken up with junk.
So, every so often, we clean our garages out. Our hearts and minds are a lot
like that – they accumulate lots of clutter. As we rub shoulders with the
world, perhaps unknowingly, we pick up ungodly thoughts and attitudes. We think
that life is all about us. We demand our rights. We react bitterly to those who
have hurt us. Before long, our hearts and minds are no longer clean and
orderly. And while we think we can hide the mess, eventually it will show.
Perhaps it is time to set
aside a spiritual workday and, with His help, get to work clearing out the
clutter. Discard those thoughts of bitterness. Bag up and throw out the old
patterns of sensual thoughts. Organize your attitudes. Fill your heart with the
beauty of God’s Word. Make it clean to the core, and then leave the door open
for all to see!
Don’t
let the Spirit reside in a cluttered heart. Take some time to clean it up
today!
