The Fullness

 Of Time

My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than slaves, though they are the owners of all the property; but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.

Galatians 4:1-7

Why is being on time so challenging for some of us? Even when we start early, something gets in the way, and we are late. Not so with God. God is always on time! He knows exactly where we are supposed to be in our lives, and He makes sure we get there in time, and not one moment before.

The arrival of Jesus came at the time of the Roman Empire’s Pax Romana (the peace of Rome.) The known world was united by one language of commerce. A network of global trade routes opened access to the whole world. All of this guaranteed that the gospel could move rapidly in one tongue. No visas were needed. No impenetrable borders. Only unhindered access to help spread the news of the Savior whose crucifixion fulfilled the prophesy of the Lamb who would be slain for our sins. All in God’s perfect timing!

All of this should remind us that the Lord knows what time is best for us as well. If you are waiting for answered prayer or the fulfillment of one of His promises, don’t give up. If you think He has forgotten you, think again. When the fullness of time is right for you, He will show up – and you will be amazed by His brilliant timing!

God’s timing is always perfect.
