The LORD
Builds The House
Unless the LORD builds the
house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD guards the city, the
guard keeps watch in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to
rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved.
Sons are indeed a heritage
from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a
warrior are the sons of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full
of them. He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the
gate.
Psalm
127:1-5
It has been written that
if we died tomorrow, the company we work for would replace us in days. But the
family left behind would feel the loss for the rest of their lives. Why then do
we invest so much in our work and so little in our children’s lives?
Nothing is more worthy of
our time than our youth, and the time we spend with them. We should make time
for our children and trust the LORD to provide for all of our physical needs.
Children, whether our own or those we disciple, are our lasting legacy – an
investment we will never regret.
Time
spent with your children is time wisely invested.
