“Good Gifts”

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks will receive. He who searches will find. The door will be opened to the one who knocks.”

"Suppose your son asks for bread. Which of you will give him a stone? Or suppose he asks for a fish. Which of you will give him a snake? Even though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Matthew 7:7-11

If you have a dog and you sit down at the dinner table, the dog will wait anxiously for you to give him a piece of steak. And when you do, he will come back for more. The dog knows we have something special to give.

What about God? If He has something good for us, why do we sometimes wring our hands and hope that it won’t be too far out of our comfort zones? God will give us good gifts, in His time, and in His own special way. We need to wait, and have patience, similar to our dogs wagging their tails as they wait for a tasty morsel of food. Pray to God to surprise you, and He will!

Prayer without expectancy is unbelief in disguise.
