“I Am The Way”
“Do not let your hearts be
troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are
many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to
prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.
And you know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord,
we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to
him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me…”
John
14:1-6
Jesus is our guide. He
leads us on a path through the forest, known as life. Many may follow the way
of the world by loving their friends and hating their enemies, but Jesus tells
us to love our enemies and to bless those who curse us.
When Jesus said He was the
way, He was calling us to leave the old ways that lead to destruction and to
follow Him in His new way for us to live. The word “follow” means “to be found
in the way” with Him. You and I can make the choice to travel the familiar and
ultimately destructive ways, or we can follow Him and be found in the way with
the One who is the way! We don’t need to see the way if we are following the
One who is the Way.
